For 30 years, Merry Makers Australia has provided a unique opportunity for hundreds of intellectually and physically disabled people to develop and express themselves through the power of music and dance. Aged five to fifty-five years, their disabilities include Autism, Aspergers, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Fragile X, MPS and other associated conditions.The Merry Makers’ message is one of love and joy but most of all hope. Hard work and determination result in performances that inspire and change perceptions of what it means to have a disability. As well as providing social interaction and a quality of life its disabled members would not have otherwise known, the organisation also offers invaluable parental interaction, encouragement and support.A registered charity endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient, Merry Makers Australia is run entirely by dedicated volunteers. No fees are charged for classes, costumes, etc … it is truly a labour of love, relying solely on sponsorships and donations to operate.
